Week 6 in Florida

Whoa. I can't believe I've already been here 6 weeks! President Cusick told us that they days may seem long, but the weeks will be short. That's for sure!
So... I forgot my planner, and that's what I write down what I want to put in my weekly email. So I'll try to remember everything.
This week we taught a couple of people who really made me excited to be here and help people come to Christ and reach the potential that they have. The first one is Emilio. Hna. Russell was teaching him for a couple weeks before I got here. He just wants to learn, he doesn't want to be committed to anything, yet! This week at our lesson, we were talking about acting on faith. We did this demo that I learned in the CCM from Hno. Arnold. You have a pen in one fist, and you tell the person to move the pen from one fist to the other using only their faith. Usually people just stare at it, maybe look a little frustrated, and then look at us like we're dumb. Then we read James 2:26 with them, that says that "Faith without works is dead." After that, and sometimes with a couple more hints, they move the pen themselves. When Hno. Arnold did it to me in Mexico, I was a little frustrated, and I didn't get it, which is how people here have felt too. But after you move the pen you feel like you can do anything! The point is that you have to work to accomplish something. When you ask God to move a mountain, usually He just gives you a shovel. Anyway, we did this with Emilio, and he understood it, but was still frustrated. He wants to know more about this gospel and he knows he needs to read the Book of Mormon, but he feels like he never has time, and it makes him feel guilty. So we told him we have CD's he can listen to in the car while he's driving to work. He loved that idea! We just dropped off the first CD yesterday, and we're seeing him on Tuesday. I hope he listens to it!
Next is Omar, the drunk man. We visited him on Friday. When we got to his house, he wasn't there. We knocked on the house next door, because that guy is a potential that we haven't gotten to talk to yet, but he wasn't home either. As we were getting in the car to leave, a car pulls up, and Omar was in it! He said he was somewhere with his friend, who was the driver, and he remembered that he had a meeting with us, so he came! He was still not totally good to teach, but we tried anyway. I'm not sure what it was, but I could understand him a lot better, and he didn't seem as drunk as usual. Hna. Russell said after that he was just as drunk as usually, we just tried harder to teach him. Whatever the case was, we taught him a little about the restoration. He always asks why there's so many churches if there's only one God. So we told him that after the apostasy, when there wasn't a prophet, Christ's church got interpreted by men, and truths were lost. That's as far as we got, because we had another appointment. He said he would try very hard to get to church, and the member who was with us told him about the bus he had to take to get there. (He didn't actually make it to church...:( ) When we were about to pray, he started crying. He told us that he knows he needs to change, he knows we can help him, and he wants help. That's a start! I think the reason I could understand him better, and didn't think he was as drunk as he probably was is because I could see him with Heavenly Father's eyes, as the man he could be, and the man he's suppose to be. I really could see him changing his life, and being baptized. I hope I get to see that someday.
I've noticed a lot, and I may have already said this before, but learning the Gospel in a new language is like learning it all all over again. I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn Spanish! Singing hymns, reading the scriptures, and just speaking it to people is incredible!
I love being out here. This work is amazing. Spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, helping people to be the people that their Heavenly Father wants them to be, and seeing myself become the person that He wants me to be is the greatest thing I have ever done. I still got a long way to go, and I am so excited to see what else changes in me and the people around me.
I love you all very much, thank you for all your support, and don't ever be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Este evangelio es que es va a hacer esta vida lo mejor posible.
