Oh hombre, this was an awesome week!!!!
Saturday!!! We had Noche de la Hispanidad!!! Every year the ward puts on this fiesta where every country has a table with their foods and each country has a dance to show everyone. IT WAS SO FUN!!!! And we had 5 investigators come, and they just LOVED IT!!! It was a stake activity, so there were a lot of missionaries there, and it was so great to have everyone together. This ward is amazing! They pride all the Latinos have in their culture is incredible, I love it! They loved to have us gringos trying their food, and learning about their countries, and the investigators loved to meet members from their countries. It was so perfect! We kept saying we should do this every month, but maybe more small scale. I love watching the people dance, even after when it was just free-style! They just dance with their hearts, and you can tell they just love to have fun together :D I'm only just a little bit jealous that I'm not Latina, but we also had an investigator this week tell us we could be adopted to be Cubans!
Oh!! That's a good story! So basically, we don't eat at people's houses very much. BUT!!! This week we had 2 dinners!!! It would have been perfect, except that they were on the same day... Latinos always tell us "comer sin verguenza" (eat without shame/embarrassment, but that's a little harder to do when we have to eat 2 whole meals sin verguenza. The first place we did ok, and ate a lot! The next place was a little harder. Our ward mission leader was there and asked me why gringos care so much about being skinny, and that we shouldn't care so much and just eat as much as we want. Trust me, I really did want to eat more! Latinos know how to cook! But I was so full and already feeling a little sick, I felt bad. But there was a lot more people at that house, so we hid it better. Next time we need to schedule these things better!
Oh!!! I forgot to tell this story a couple weeks ago. I GOT ATTACKED BY A DOG!!!!!! It was the craziest thing ever! We went to Victoria's house, and her husband opened the door. He thought we were someone else that the dog already knows, so he didn't put the dog away like they usually do. SO! The dog ran out and started biting at our ankles! We didn't want to run away because that would have been ridiculous. But Hna. Russell screamed a little, and I just didn't know what to do. I'm sure I freaked out. After about an ETERNITY!! (probably was like 10 seconds) the husband grabbed the dog and took him inside. Scariest thing in my life! I really think that dog wanted to kill us. And he has crazy eyes. And is really beefy. And shoulders that are 2 times the size of his head. And doesn't really bark, but rather squeals or screams. Also, he's a chihuahua. But he's still really scary!! and totally could have eaten my foot if I let him.
Ok, on Tuesday, we had a surprise exchange with the sister training leaders. They decided that I would stay in our area, and Hna. Russell would go to their area. It would just be for the day, and we were going to be teaching some awesome people! Everything looked like it was going to be the best exchange EVER!!! Here's the catch: the sister training leaders don't speak Spanish....
SO!!! It was the best exchange ever, because I really had to rely on the Holy Ghost and my Heavenly Father to get me through it all without offending people with my imperfect Spanish, and being able to understand them, and know what to do if plans didn't work out, and everything else that happens in a normal day of a missionary. We had a church tour with Rosa and Jose, some awesome progressing investigators, and was able to just talk to them without worrying about what I said. They understood me, and I understood them, they felt the Spirit, and said they were excited to come to church as soon as Jose can find a replacement for his soccer team. One of our investigators, Emilio, always has some crazy doctrinal questions, and his question this time was about the 12 Tribes of Israel and how Lehi and his family fit into all that. I was able to explain all that in a way that he understood, and reinforce the importance of having the Book of Mormon! One of our less-actives who doesn't smile too much was actually smiling with us! And was way more involved in the lesson than usual. IT WAS AN AMAZING DAY!!!! Sis. Kenagy, the sister training leader, was so surprised that I'd only been out 8 weeks! She said I seemed so calm and confident. When we got home for the night, I couldn't believe we had done everything we did without anything going wrong! I really learned to put my trust in my Heavenly Father, and let Him do His work through me. Hna. Russell said that after that, I seemed to have more confidence in everything. I think I really just realize now that I'm just the instrument, He's the one doing the work. And thank goodness for that! If I was just going about with my own knowledge and strength, nothing would get done. This is His work, and I need to let Him do some of the heavy lifting. Oh man, IT WAS SO AMAZING!!!!!

Well, that's pretty much the excitement of the week.
