Whoa. I seriously just went through my whole sent mail to make sure I've actually been here for 7 weeks. Because I really can't believe it! Time is FLYING by! But I guess it really has been 7 weeks... Whoa.
Ok! So this week I learned a HUGE lesson!!! Just because you plan with the help of the Lord doesn't mean that those plans are what's going to happen the next day. We plan at the end of the day for what we're going to do the next day, and we pray to have the Holy Ghost with us to help us know where do go, who to visit, when to be where, and whatnot. Because we plan with the Holy Ghost, we can know that we've planned what we're suppose to do. Last Friday, all of our plans were falling through. That does happen a lot, because we don't usually have too many set appointments, because usually people don't give clear responses, or make sure that they aren't home at that time. But on Friday, we had some set stuff to do, and no one was home!!! Not gonna lie, I was a little bit annoyed. This week Hna. Russell wanted me to take the lead in approaching people. So when one of our appointments fell through, I said we should stop and talk to a couple people. One of them was a Testigo (Jehovah's Witness) and the other was leaving town, but took a Book of Mormon anyway. So that was good practice for me even if nothing comes of it right now! The blessing of the day is that our dinner appointment didn't fall through!! We don't eat with members unless they have a less-active or investigator there, and usually people don't invite us to dinner when we set up appointments to teach them. This one was a daughter of a less-active, and her mom has been in Miami. But when we got there her mom answered the door! It was a miracle!!!! She has Alzheimer's, and so she's not really all there, but you can tell she still has a testimony of the Gospel. She and her great-grandson were baptized together, but he was killed 3 years ago. It really messed up the rest of the family. None of them are members, and don't believe that they can see him again, so we really want to teach them the Plan of Salvation. But they keep telling us that they don't really care, or want to know. Why would someone not want to know about how they can see their family again after this life!? I think they just don't want to deal with it. But I know that this Plan could bring them SO much peace!
Anyway, that was awesome! And Cuban food is SO good! Pretty much, I thing that all latino food has the same base, but each country has their own spin on things. It's been pretty fun to learn all the different cultures. Oh! Sidebar, in Mexico, when you say ahorita, it means now. But in Puerto Rico, ahorita means later. How confusing is that!?!
So after dinner all our plans were falling through again. I was especially bummed about an investigating couple that the English Elders just passed-off to us. They are GOLDEN!!! But... They weren't home. So went when to another investigator, and they weren't home. We had 30 minutes until our next lesson, so we said a prayer, and then went to a less-active's house. We talked to her son, who's also L-A, and we weren't planning to see either of them! MIRACLE!!! Then we went to our next lesson, but she wasn't home either. While we were talking to her on the phone (she was out of town...) her neighbor pulled up, who is a L-A that we haven't seen in AGES!!!! He's having a really hard time right, and it was A MIRACLE that we saw him. He even said so! BEST DAY!!!!!!!
So... This email is already really long, so I'll just wrap it up with this. I hope you all got to watch conference, and if you didn't use the technology that God has given us, and WATCH IT!!!!!! Do we really understand how incredible it is to have A PROPHET OF GOD AND APOSTLES ON THE EARTH TODAY?!? I know I didn't really think of the miracle that is up until maybe a few years ago, but I even question that because now I understand the miracle so much more! I know it's hard, there's other activities to do or work, but PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO WATCH!!!! There were so many good things said, and many GREAT PROMISES MADE!!! I think my favorite what Elder Ballard Saturday afternoon. I hope you all accept his invitation and focus on ONE person from now until Christmas to invite to church, to take the missionary lessons, or just to read the Book of Mormon. YOU WILL BE SO BLESSED IF YOU DO WHAT THE PROPHET AND APOSTLES ASK!! That is a promise from God Himself. Please do it. For you, for you family, for your friends, and for me :) But mostly because it's what God asked you to do. ALWAYS KEEP AN ETERNAL PERSPECTIVE!!! That is what's going to get us through this life. If we always remember that the point of this life is to get back to our Heavenly Father, the things that don't matter don't matter, and the things that do matter do matter!
Gracias por todo!!!! Estan en mis oraciones cada dia :)
Les quiero!!

Sunday we made french toast! Hna. Newbill taught me how, so I'm def going to be doing that for the rest of my life! (well, maybe not really for the rest of my life...) |
We went out to eat before conference! It's so weird with the time change. The sessions are during lunch and dinner. So eating regular meals is hard... |
