That's right! I'm staying in Naples!!! Same address, same ward. I'm
staying with Hna. Lewis, we're continuing to cover both areas, which
means there's lots of work to do! This week has been nuts!
So, Tuesday we started going around to our recent converts and
progressing people to teach them one last time and say goodbye. It was
so hard! The worst was the family Lobaton and Harvey. I just love them
all so much! It's been so amazing to see them progress to baptism, and
then more after baptism. It seriously was breaking my heart. Wednesday
was the same thing. Just as hard, just as sad :( Hna. Lewis has been
in pretty close contact with president since she found out about her
sister( side note- I think the whole world knows about this! There's a
Facebook group, Miracles for Makenzie, and everyone's painting their
nails yellow because her mom posted a foto of Makezie holding her moms
hand and she has yellow polish on! Also! Hna just heard that Elder
Holland, the Apostle!!!, called her dad! He's a bishop in St. George,
where Elder Holland has some ties, so he just wanted to offer his
support!!! Nuts, huh?). Anyway, when she found out she was being
transferred she started thinking about just going home a transfer
early to help her family. She told that to president Wednesday night,
and he said "well, I need to go through some paperwork, and the 70, so
why don't you and Sister Despain stay in Naples for a week or two, and
I'll come visit you and see how you're doing." It was literally 9
hours before we were going to be heading up to Tampa for the transfer
meeting. Our bags were packed and we were emotionally prepared to go!
She told him it was gonna be awkward, and he said he didn't care.
Jaja. So we stayed!!! It was so funny to see the ward's faces! They
were so confused! Between Hna. Melchor going home, Hna. Finlayson
finishing her mission, our transfer scare last Sunday, and having Hna.
Lauricella hanging out with us on Tuesday and Wednesday, the ward just
doesn't know what's going on anymore! I think a few of them think we
made the whole thing up!
Thursday we had our weekly planning, and it took 5 hours! We had about
50 people to seriously plan for! Which means we should have about that
many lessons, if everything goes perfectly, right? I'll let you know
how it goes next week :)
Oh! Follow up on the car prank (btw, this stays hush hush!). The
elders came to the apartment to give me the stuff I left in the car.
Hna. Lewis had out her camera, and I told them I had something for
them too. I handed them the spare key and said it went with the car.
It took them about a second to realize we were the ones that moved the
car! They're smart little elders! And we got their reaction on
camera!! Their faces are priceless! They were pretty proud of us :)
ha!
Well, Alberto is still out of town, but he was here for a day! So we
got to see him! He hadn't smoked in about 4 days, and he said he'll be
back in 2 weeks, so he's still good for baptism!
Hna. Lewis had an investigator that is all ready for baptism, but
can't get to church. But! One of our returning members just moved down
in the same area, so we're gonna give them a responsibility to take
her so they have to come too! Killing two bird with one stone it the
coolest thing!
We also are gonna have Harvey baptize a kid we're teaching, Gavin.
They're both excited! Gavin's awesome, his grandparents are recent
converts, and he's been living with them. He's 11, but acts like he's
at least 27.
The Lobaton's were so stoked to hear I'm staying! Julie practices
bearing her testimony, and she says she'll do it next month! I told
her that she's one on the lucky little girls in the world that knows
that her Heavenly Farther loves her. That made her feel pretty
special. I just love these girls!
Oh! We had a party for the World Cup on Saturday! We got to watch the
game! It made me so happy, I miss sports so much! It wasn't a totally
good game, Brasil was not playing together at all. They need some good
gospel learning right about now. Then they'd work better together :)
I love you all! This church is true! Never forget that, because I never will!
